Peace and the United Nations System

The United Nations (UN) was created in 1945 after a devastating conflict with the mission of guaranteeing peace in the world through collective security. Today, many speak of a multilateral UN system in crisis, particularly with regards to the blockages within the Security Council. Yet many organizations are committed to the project of peace. Switzerland also has an important role to play, in particular through its mandate as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the period 2023-2024.
