With the photo exhibition “Imagine: Reflections on peace”, the International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent together with the VII Foundation examine the conditions and consequences of the peace processes in Lebanon, Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Rwanda, Cambodia and Colombia, countries that have experienced long-lasting conflicts.
The signing of an agreement between the opposing parties is a first step. But afterwards? How is what has been destroyed rebuilt? What are the visible and invisible traces left by years of conflict? How can one cohabit with a neighbour who was once your enemy?
Leading photojournalists explore these different countries and question peace on a daily basis. By reporting on a fragile process, a complex reality made of successes, failures, hopes and hesitations, they invite us to imagine the ideal of peace beyond the images that make the news.
